• segment the data in such a manner that the sum of linear correlations over all the segments is the maximum.
• the segmentation optimization is done to maximum the sum of linear correlation while ensuring noisy segments are excluded (if the p-value of the linear correlation is high).
• the resultant nonlinear correlation is an aggregation of segment-wise correlations.
